Terms & Conditions + Cancellation Policy

1. Locations & Lesson Format

All lessons are taught in person at one of the following locations:

No in-home or travel lessons are offered.

2. Scheduling & Payment

  • All scheduling is managed through the studio’s online portal:
    www.mikeyoungvoicestudio.com

  • Payment is collected at the time of booking through the same portal.

  • Students may book:

    • Individual lessons, or

    • A monthly subscription package

Lessons are available on a first-come, first-served basis unless a student has arranged a reserved weekly time slot.

Reserved Time Slots (Optional)

If a student prefers a consistent weekly lesson time, a recurring slot may be reserved.
Reserved slots may not be held if payments lapse or if a student repeatedly cancels without adequate notice.

3. Monthly Subscription Packages

The studio offers a monthly subscription that includes:

  • Four lessons per billing cycle

  • A 10% discount compared to individual bookings

  • Flexibility to book lessons at any available time

  • Lessons roll over into the next billing cycle if unbooked

  • Rolled-over lessons expire if still unused at the end of the following billing cycle

  • Subscription lessons are non-refundable

Combined Voice + Piano Package

A specialty subscription package is available for students studying both voice and piano:

  • One weekly 30-minute voice lesson + one 30-minute piano lesson

  • Billed at the 1-hour lesson rate, plus the 10% subscription discount

4. Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy

24-Hour Notice Requirement

Students must provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
Lessons cancelled with fewer than 24 hours’ notice are treated as late cancellations.

  • Late cancellations and no-shows are not refundable.

  • Late cancellations do not generate makeup credits.

Accepted Methods of Cancellation

Students may cancel or reschedule using any of the following methods:

All cancellation messages must be timestamped 24+ hours before the lesson time.

No-Shows

Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without communication is considered a no-show and is billed as a late cancellation.

5. Instructor Cancellations

If the instructor must cancel for any reason (illness, emergency, schedule conflict, weather), the student will receive one of the following:

  • A rescheduled lesson, or

  • A credit returned to their lesson balance, or

  • A refund (if no other arrangement is possible)

Instructor cancellations are never charged to the student.

6. Illness Policy

  • Students should not attend lessons if they are experiencing fever, contagious illness, or severe respiratory symptoms.

  • The instructor may refuse a lesson if a student arrives visibly ill.

  • Illness does not automatically waive the 24-hour cancellation rule unless an exception is granted at the instructor’s discretion.

7. Studio Expectations

  • Students should arrive on time, prepared, and with necessary materials.

  • Lessons end at the scheduled time, even if the student arrives late.

  • Respectful, focused behavior is expected at all studio locations.

  • Parents/guardians may observe lessons quietly unless otherwise arranged.

8. Media, Lesson Recordings & Performances

  • The instructor may record parts of lessons for educational use (warm-ups, technique tracking, repertoire review).

  • With student consent (or parent consent for minors), recordings may also be used for:

    • Auditions

    • Recitals

    • Studio promotion

Students may opt out of promotional use at any time.

9. Holidays & Studio Calendar

The studio observes major holidays and occasional short breaks.
Lessons affected by studio-wide closures will be rescheduled or credited appropriately.

10. Termination of Lessons

Lessons may be discontinued at any time by either the student or the instructor.

Reasons the instructor may end lessons include:

  • Repeated no-shows or late cancellations

  • Non-payment or habitual late payment

  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior

  • Failure to follow studio policies

Unused individual lessons and unused subscription lessons are non-refundable.
Students may continue to use any remaining booked or credited lessons until they expire according to studio policy.
