Mike Young is a classically trained baritone and a graduate of The University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Mike has held faculty positions at Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, and Thomas More University, and now operates a private studio in San Antonio, Texas.

Mike is a winner of the Palm Beach International Vocal Competition and an avid performer of all corners of the classical vocal repertoire. From leading roles in operas to featured soloist engagements with symphony orchestras, Bach cantatas to video game soundtracks, Mike has both technical expertise and industry experience to share with his students to help them thrive in an ever-evolving musical landscape.

As a teacher, Mike’s philosophy is that each student has both unique goals and unique needs. Our experiences shape us as learners as much as they shape us as artists, and getting to the core of a student’s work style helps to unlock progress by tapping into their personal drive and ambition. The mark of a successful lesson is progress of any degree, and the mark of a successful performance is communication and expression, not perfection.

We still aim for perfection, understanding that we cannot possibly achieve it.
